Abstract
Objective: The aim of this research is to determine the effects on muscle activity as incurred by patient transfer height, lumbar pressure, and lower extremities.

Method: 40 physical therapists working in hospital rehabilitation units were selected as the sample target. The experiment was conducted under 2 conditions - when the wheelchair and treatment mat were of equal height, and when the treatment mat was 10cm higher than the wheelchair. EMG and 3DSSPP were used to measure the muscle activity and lumbar pressure of the back and lower extremity.

Results: Back muscle activity showed a significant difference according to height(p<.05).

Conclusion: Patient transfer can result in lower back musculoskeletal disorders. Hence it is recommended that the patient be transferred at equal height to prevent lower back musculoskeletal disorders.
